WHEREAS, R. W. Beck and Associates has completed for the
Urban Drainage and Flood Control District a report entitled "Major
Drainageway Planning, South Boulder Creek, Volumes I and II, City
of Boulder and Boulder County, COlorado," dated December 1973; and

WHEREAS, said report outlines and describes the flood
water runoff channel for an inte~mediate regional flood {lOO-year
flood) on South Boulder Creek in more detail than the U. S. Corps
6f Engineers report, Flood Plain Information, Boulder Creek and
South Boulder Creek, Volume II, ~oulder Metropolitan Region, Colo-
rado, dated August 1969, which w~s designated and approved as the
flood hazard areas by resolution of the board on the 1st day of.
April 1970; and

WHEREAS, Article 149-1~11(4), Colorado Revised Statutes
1963, requires that the Colorado Water Conservation Board designate
and approve storm or flood water runoff channels and to make such
designations available to legisl~tive bodies of local jurisdictions;
and

WHEREAS, Article 139-60-1, Colorado Revised Statutes
1963, provides that such cities, towns, incorporated areas and
local jurisdictions may provide 20ning regulations for any storm
or flood water runoff channel onlY after designation and approval
by the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and

WHEREAS, the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District
has requested the Colorado Water Conservation ,Board to designate
and approve the flood hazard areaS as set forth in the Major
Drainage Planning, South Boulder Creek, Volumes I and II; and

WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report
and does hereby recommend to the Colorado Water Conservation Board
that said Board designate and approve as flood hazard areas those
areas set forth in the report as being subject to flooding by an
intermediate regional flood under existing conditions.
