Box 791
Boulder, Colorado 80306

Community: City of Boulder,
Colorado
Community No.: 080024
Panel Affected: 0120 E
Effective Date of
This Revision: APR 05 1994,

102-I-A

Dear Mayor Durgin:

This is in response to a request for a revision to the effective Flood
Insurance Study (FIS) and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) map for
your community. Specifically, this responds to a letter dated November 6,
1992, from Ms. Karen S. Medde, civil Engineer I, Department of Public Works,
City of Boulder, regarding the effective FIS report and Flood Insurance Rate
Map (FIRM) for the City of Boulder, Colorado. Ms. Medde requested that we
revise the effective FIRM to show the effects of more detailed topographic
information along Twomile Canyon Creek.

All of the data required to complete our review of this request were
submitted with Ms. Medde's letters dated November 6, 1992, and February 10,
February 23, and April 26, 1993.

This revision request was originally processed as a physical map revision and
incorporated into the ongoing countywide study for Boulder County, Colorado
and Incorporated Areas. The preliminary maps for Boulder County, Colorado
and Incorporated Areas were issued on September 17, 1993. So that the
revised data will be available to your community immediately, this physical
map revision submittal is being used as the basis of this Letter of Map
Revision (LOMa) to the FIS report and FIRM for the City of Boulder.

Because this LOMa solely incorporates more detailed information, fees were
not assessed for the review.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM and have revised the FIRM to modify the elevations,
floodplain boundary delineations, and zone designations of a flood having a
I-percent probability of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base
flood) along Twomile Canyon Creek from its confluence with Goose Creek to
approximately 520 feet upstream of Lake Briar Drive. Most of the base
(lOO-year) flood elevations (BFEs) are decreasing. However, the BFEs
increase a maximum of 2 feet from approximately 400 feet downstream of 19th
Street to approximately 500 feet downstream of Broadway and from
approximately 300 feet downstream of Kalmia Avenue to approximately 200 feet
downstream of the intersection of 4th Street and Linden Avenue. These
increases are due 'to more detailed topographic information.
