Such an evaluation was done by first running the pro- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />gram and making changes to roughness values to insure that a computed <br /> <br />water surface profile would agree reasonably well with the corresponding <br /> <br />observed profile. Changes in stream geometry were modeled by changing <br /> <br />cross-sectional points. By comparison of the water surface elevations <br /> <br />and velocities before and after geometry changes, a rapid and econo- <br /> <br />mical evaluation of the effects of alteration of steep mountain <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />streams was possible. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Ronald L.
