<br />Work Element 3, Estes Park and Larimer County Public Works <br />Department have contracted with the firm of Rocky <br />Mountain Consultants to assess, design, inspect and <br />laboratory test the replacement of private bridges along <br />Fall River destroyed during the July 15, 1982 flood. <br /> <br />Work Element 8. Town of Estes Park has made an inquiry to <br />the Omaha District Corps of Engineers to possibly include a <br />Section 205, Small Flood Control project into the Cascade <br />Lake dam providing Estes Park is allowed to reconstruct the <br />facility. <br /> <br />B. Minimizing Flood Recurrence <br /> <br />Work Element 2. Estes Park met with Colorado Division of <br />Wildlife on October 20, 1982 in Estes Park to discuss the <br />State Fish Hatchery, prel iminary negotiat ions to reshape <br />the area to its original ground are in process. <br /> <br />Work Element 3. Debris, channel obstructions, <br />structures and sediment/silt have been removed <br />Fall River Channel, <br /> <br />destroyed <br />from the <br /> <br />C, Hazard Warning and Education <br /> <br />Work Element 1, The Town of Estes Park has been investi- <br />gating alternative options for a flash flood warning system <br />covering major drainage basins in and above the community. <br />A flood warning conference to share information with inter- <br />ested agencies has been scheduled by the town to take place <br />on January 19, 1983. <br /> <br />Work Element 3. The Emergency Management Coordinator, <br />Chief of Police Robert Ault, is working with the Larimer <br />County coordinator on an Emergency Plan for Estes Park, <br /> <br />D, Structural/Nonstructural Measures <br /> <br />Work Element 1. An application for an "Imminent Threat" <br />grant was sent to Governor Lamm on August 20, 1982. <br />Governor Lamm sent a letter to Grady Franklin Maples, of <br />the u.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), <br />giving a strong support for the "Bridge Replacement <br />project." On October 26, 1982 the Town of Estes Park <br />conducted a public hearing to support a HUD "Imminent <br />Threat" grant application in the amount of $400,000. <br />Formal application was delivered to HUD on October 28, <br />1982, and now has been approved. <br /> <br />-26- <br />
