However, there are cases were double clicks do not work. Clicking on the right mouse button <br />or "right-clicking" gives one a puIl down menu, This makes it faster to work because one does not have <br />to move the mouse around the screen as much. <br /> <br />Clicking is used in many aspects. For instance, some icons on the toolbar have different options that will <br />appear if the left mouse button is held down while on top of the icon. Holding down the left button and <br />moving the mouse at the same time will move or "drag" the highlighted object around. This command is <br />a faster way to move or "cut and paste" objects when creating fonTIS, queries or reports. Now one is ready <br />to make a query using the Design View. <br /> <br />EXAMPLE <br /> <br />Necessary Decisions <br />Before a query is made, information about the relationship between data in the database and the query <br />should be determined, The first piece of information needed to make any query in this database is which <br />table the information is in. Since this query is related to a floodplain management issue, use the table <br />entitled "Community Flood Management Table." AIl the tables for the database are found on the tabbed <br />page "Tables." <br /> <br />The second decision is to decide which group the query will focus on. In this example, the focus will be <br />on all communities who returned questionnaires. One could narrow the field down even more by querying <br />all communities in Weld County that returned questionnaires. The table chosen already consists of <br />information only from returned questionnaires. <br /> <br />The fmal decision is how much information is required to make the query understandable. With the way <br />the Needs Assessment database is designed, the community name and county are almost always required <br />(for organizations, the organization name is required in every query). The other information needed is the <br />heading for the colunm containing the responses for the panicular query. In this case, the colunm heading <br />is "Flood Prob wi Existing IITig." In the table, one should also note three adjacent columns with the first <br />word of each heading "Irrig" indicating these are probably related to the main question. <br /> <br />Making the Query <br />Once those decisions have been made, go to the "Queries" tabbed page. Click on the button labeled "New" <br />on the right hand side of the page. Then highlight the title "Design View" and press enter. On the screen <br />will be a list of all the tables and queries in the Needs Assessment database. Chose the "Community Flood <br />Management Table" and close the list since it is no longer needed.
