A summary of available flood hydrology developed by these agencies is shown in Table 1. Estilated frol previous studies and trend in runoff per square lile Extrapolating the Corp's peak discharges for Agate Creek (unit runoff of 10.1 cfs per square mile) and Craig (unit runoff of 8.6 cfs per square mile), we get a 100-year unit runoff at Maybell of 7.2 cfs per square mile. Multiplying this by the drainage area of 3,410 square miles, we get an estimated 100-year peak discharge at Maybell of 24,552 cfs. The 100-year flood peak discharge is significant since routing of the dam failure flood is generally terminated when the dam failure flood peak discharge has attenuated to a magnitude equal or less than the 100-year flood. The depth of flooding at Steamboat Springs, Hayden and Craig for the 100-year flood varies between 8 and 12 feet above the lowest point in the channel. Flood damages from the 100-year flood or less are expected to be mitigated by local governments through land use planning and zoning regulations. 2..
