These floods have been described in connec- <br />. tion with the Arkansas River flood of June 3-5, 1921.' <br />Another region in which cloudbursts are prevalent lies along the <br />western foothills, in the western part of the State.' In this region the <br />area most subject to cloudburst is the extreme upper end of the Un- <br />compahgre Valley, where the sides converge and join the main mass <br />of the San Juan Mountains above Ouray.
