INTRODUCTION

GINGERY ASSOCIATES, we.

Purpose

'Oh~/)~
Drainage Engineer

,~

This study was the result of concern by the sronsoring agencies for
the extensive flood plain and floodway areas along Dry Creek as
identified in the "Flood Insurance Studies" for thE) City of Fort
Collins and Larimer County (References 11 and 12).

~~~
Project I~anager
The purpose of this study was more accurately to define these flood
plain and floodway boundaries because of their impact on development
in these communities. These investigations used a more detailed
approach towards identifying the hydrology of the Dry Creek channel
and more detailed topographic mapping than the previous report. This
study also included an investigation of alternate floodway criteria
that may identify a narrower floodway more suited to the wide, shall()\J
flooding along this stream.
Once the flood plain and floouway were accurately identified, this stud~'
has includ..d an "valu<ltion of structural and non-structural impro'.'emcnt
plans to mitigate or alleviate flood hazard areas and pre5ents ~ plan
to guide future flood plain development in this basin.
Scope of \-;ork
The scope of work for this study rrovides for a comprehensive drainagcway
plannlng analysis along a 6.5-mile stream I:",",ch uf Dry Creek in th.:o
City o~ Fort Collins and Larimer County (Figure 1).
This drainage planning analysis consisted of the followin<J majm ..tuuy
items:
- 3-
-. -
