ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COSTS

TABLE X

Fin~l construction costs were calculated using the unit prices
in Table X and the detailed material quantities calculated for
each study reach. Unit costs were esti~ated using common materials
and construction techniques to produce th~ drainage facilities
described On the preli~inary plan drawings. The use of alternate
materials and construction methods could result in a savings
over what is presented here. A detailed study to evaluate all
possible design alternatives will be left for final design.
The construction costs are representative of September 1979
costs and an ENR Construction Cost Index of 290 (1967 '"' 100)
for the Denver area.

The estimated costs of these improvement alternatives are based
on contractor construction prices, including overhead and profit,
as of September 1979. These prices have been ~djusted into an
aggregate unit price which includes the cost of excavation,
materialS and installation backfill and compaction required for
installation of these facilities. The aggregate unit prices are
listed in Table X.

UNIT COSTS

Grass-lined channels

Unit price
$ 3/cubic yard
$ 2/cubic yard
$2,OOO/acre
$8,SOO/acre
$ 40/cubic
$ 30/cubic
$ 200/cubic
$ 300/cubic

A summary of estimated quantities taken from the preliminary
design is provided in the Technical Addendum for Dry Creek.

Open Channels
A.
