11-12

GENERAL CONCLUSIONS

Several Important generalizations about developments In the Lena
Gulch watershed are apparent from the vadous field trIps and gen-.
eral hydrologic and hydraulIc calculations:

1. Development should not occur in flood plain hazard areas or In
areas that can cause signifIcantly Increased hazards such as in
Basin I.

2. The Map leG rove Sp! llway shou I d be supp 1 emen ted or reI' 1 aced to
brIng the structure within the present guidelines of the State
Engineer's Office.

3. A clearly defined water course to Clear Creek must be maintai.ed
for the safety and health,of the populous.

The steps taken should Include sedimentation, ,erosion, and chaanle,j
clearing measures along the channel. Governmental ordinances and
zoning measures should be taken to prevent and stop pollution of Lena
Gulch runoff (i .e. chemicals and backwash). A copy of a letter sent
to the Colorado State Department of Health and their reply about
pollutional aspects follows.
