Please refer to the discussion on page 2. By referring to the product number plots (Figure
17), the curves for 90 and
120 pounds are identical.
This is due to the fact that
the face width was
increased to represent the
larger body geometry
associated with a heavier
person. In addition, the
curve for a 210 pound
design monolith, appears
below that of the 180
pound monolith, again
because the face width was
adjusted. These are not
errors in calculations, but
merely consequences of the
assumptions used.

Product Number as a Function of Weight
Wpiph' lib.)
D..W.h JlL 6.lL 2lL ll.lI llJl 1.8.Jl lllI .il.ll
0.40 1.74 2.72 3.44 3.44 3.89 4.29 4.14 4.44
0.60 1.87 3.18 4.09 4.09 4.65 5.16 4,96 5.35
0.80 1.82 3.48 4.57 4.57 5.24 5.84 5.61 6.06
1.00 1.56 3.66 4.94 4.94 5.71 6.40 6.13 6.65
1.20 0.84 3.42 4.76 4.76 5.56 6.26 5.99 6.52
1.40 3.16 4.58 4.58 5.41 6.12 5.85 6.39
1.60 2.88 4.39 4.39 5.25 5.98 5.70 6.25
1.80 2.56 4.19 4.19 5.08 5.83 5.54 6,11
2.00 2.20 3.98 3.98 4.91 5.69 5.39 5.97
2.20 1.77 3.76 3.76 4.73 5.53 5.23 5.82
2.40 1.19 3.52 3.52 4.54 5.38 5.06 5.67
2.60 3.27 3.27 4.35 5.21 4.89 5.52
2.80 3.00 3.00 4.15 5.05 4.71 5.36
3.00 2.69 2.69 3.94 4.87 4.52 5.20
3.20 2.35 2.35 3.71 4.69 4.33 5.03
3.40 1.96 1.96 3.47 4.51 4.13 4.86
3.60 1.45 1.45 3.22 4.31 3.91 4.68
3.80 0.63 0.63 2.94 4.11 3.69 4.49
4.00 2.63 3.90 3.45 4.30
Ave. 1.55 2.63 3.34 3.34 4.22 5.02 4.77 5.32
Average 90 -180 Ibs = 4.0
Average 30 -180 Ibs = 3.4
Average 30 -240 Ibs = 3.8

Table 6

- 14-

The scientific calculations
based upon the
assumptions stated in this
analysis show that the
product number for hazard
vary from 0,6 to 6.6
depending upon weight,
depth of flow, and velocity.
Average product numbers
independent upon depth for
hazard for individual
weight categories vary from
1.5 to 5.3.
