To test the sensitivity of this factor, the monolith <br />was modeled with an increased base thickness, as if the monolith were placing one foot forward, <br />and one foot back. This "resistive stance" results in a larger moment about point "0" (Figure 5) <br />available to the monolith to resist the force of the flood flow (P). This was accomplished by varying the face width of the monolith from 9 <br />inches to 15 inches (.75 feet to 1.25 feet). These values were chosen to reflect the difference in leg <br />width from children (9 inches from 30 to 90 pounds) to medium adults (12 inches from 120 to 180 <br />pounds) and larger adults (15 inches from 210 to 240 pounds). These geometry configurations <br />were used to study the effects of weight variations to produce a family of curves for consideration <br />in using the product number in the delineation of flood hazard. <br />-13- <br />
