When the breached levee has been reconstructed to its original <br />grade, remove the temporary ring levee and dress and turf the surface <br />areas of the plugged section, . <br /> <br />i. Provide watertight sealed manhole covers for all manholes <br />within the floodway having tops below design water surface elevation. <br />Fast~n manhole covers to the manhole structures. <br /> <br />j. Fill any pipelines to be abandoned under the existing levees <br />with concrete. <br /> <br />k. Locate a positive cutoff structure on the riverside of the levee <br />crown to prevent water from the riverside flowing through the pipeline <br />to the lands ide. Extend the cutoff structure to the levee crown elevation. <br />This structure shall be in the form of a gate well containing a gate and <br />ancillary equipment and sized to permit inspection and maintenance. <br />Also, it must be accessible no matter what flood condition may exist. <br />The closure device must be operational by manpower, if necessary. <br /> <br />1, Provide seep rings when required by ETL 1110-2-192, 26 August 1974. <br /> <br />m. No pervious bedding shall be provided except as specified in <br />ETL 1110-2-192. <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />n. Provide gravity storm drains discharging into the floodway with <br />automatic flap gates at the discharge end of the line and energy dissi- <br />pators, as required. It will be the owner's responsibility, subject to <br />other written agreement with the project's sponsor, to frequently <br />inspect and maintain or have maintained the installed flap gates to <br />assure proper operation. <br /> <br />o. Use monolithic conduits or conduits with watertight joints under <br />the levee. <br /> <br />p, See General Criteria, <br /> <br />6, IlEADWALLS, CHUTES, GATE VALVES, FLAP (AUTOMATIC) GATES & ETC, <br /> <br />a. Install headwalls, chutes, gate valve structures, flap (auto- <br />matic) gates, and other types of outfall structures in such a manner as <br />will prevent obstruction of flow or creation of scouring conditions in <br />the floodway, Approved methods will be used for fill, backfill, and <br />required compaction. The fill shall be subject to testing and the <br />compaction shall equal that of the adjacent levee or the current ap- <br />proved standard, whichever requires greater compaction. <br /> <br />. <br />I <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />. <br />'- <br />
