<br />, <br /> <br />COMPANION FLOOD PLAIN INFORMATION <br />CACHE LA POUDRE RIVER BASIN <br />COLORADO <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />I <br />~'.' <br />,', <br />! <br /> <br />This Plan of Study presents the purpose, scope, procedure~, <br /> <br /> <br />methods, data ne1"ds, time required, and costs of a Companion Flood <br /> <br /> <br />Plain Information Study of the Cache la Poudre River basin in <br /> <br /> <br />Colorado. <br /> <br />Such a stuqy is being undertaken to assist the Colorado State <br />Water Gonservatipn Board; the Larimer-Weld Regional Council of <br />Governments; Larimer and Weld Counties,' and the cities of Fort <br />Collins and Gree~ey under continuing authority in Section 206 of <br />the 1960 Flood Cpntrol Act, as amended. Letters of request are <br />included in Appendix ,A. <br />, <br /> <br />The Cache l~ Poudre River basin in Colorado contains a number <br />of flood hazard ~eas, from its narrow canyon flood plains in the <br />mountainous west to its vide valley flood plains in the east. It <br />is a rapidly groving area, having doubled its population between <br />1960 and 1970. pontinued growth and the resultant land use changes <br />may alter the n~ture of the flood hazards in the basin signifi- <br />cantly by increasing the runoff potential and the number of struc- <br />tures located in the flood plains. <br /> <br />Three Flood Plain Information (FPI) Reports on the Cache la <br />Poudre River, dll;ted October 1973, March 1974, and October 1975, <br /> <br />1 <br />
