Corps of Engineers
215 No. 17th Street .
Omaha, Nebraska 68102

Dear Mr. Velehradsky:

RE: PLAN OF STUDY - FLOOD PLAIN INFORMATION
CACHE LA POUDRE RIVER BASIN

The Larime~-Weld Regional Council of Governments (COG)
has reviewed the revised draft plan of study regarding the
"Companion Floo!l Plain Information Study - Cache la poudre
River Basin - Lprirner-Weld Counties, Colorado,1l and finds that
it adequately reflects those areas of interest expressed by our
member counties' and cities.

As you know, the Corps of Engineers and the Larimer-Weld
Region have not had as close a working relationship as might
be desirable. ~e were greatly disappointed over the, sudden
cancellation of part of your South Platte River Water Supply
Study a year agp this summer. This was a deletion of what
was mutually agreed upon, at a February 24, 1976, meeting
with Colorado Congressional Representatives, to be an integral
part of both your water supply study and our ongoing 208 Area-
wide Planning Program; namely, the inventory and analysis of
existing agricultural water supply practices.'

Nonetheless, we know that the Corps of Engineers can, with
proper program management, produce useful technical information.
We would welcom~ your proposed study so long as your organiza-
tion commits itself to completing the study on schedule and as
outlined in the plan of study. Additionally, we reguest that
you hold quarterly meetings with the appropriate professional
staff of the region and discuss the program before the COG
Governing Board at appropriate intervals. The Larimer-Weld
COG Director will be happy to make the necessary arrangements.

'a 1 wling
Chairman; Larimer-Weld COG

CDB :psj

_......i
