These records indicate that some flooding occurs in the water- <br />shed every two years on the average and that large floods occurred on <br />Boxelder Creek in 1904, 1909, 1922, 1930, 1933, 1937, 1941, 1947, <br />1961, 1963, 1965, 1967, and 1969. Historical flood data in the <br />plains area of the basin are not available. <br /> <br />, <br />t,1 <br />m <br />.. <br /> <br />PAST FLOOD DAMAqES <br /> <br />Floods on the Cache la Poudre River in the plains area of the <br />basin frequently cause damage to crops, livestock, farm improvements, <br />machinery, irri~ation structures, and road and railroad structures. <br />Moderate and lal1ger floods also oause damage to residential and <br />commercial property in the small towns of Bellvue and Laporte. <br />, <br />Only the largest floods cause damage to residential, commercial, <br />. . <br />and industrial Ilroperty at Fort Collins and Greeley. Evaluations <br />of past flood d~ges are not indicative of the current flood <br />hazard due to t~e flood plain development that has taken place <br />since flooding '{as . last recorded in 1947. and 1949. .ror the <br />record flood of.May 1904, an estimate of damages presented in a <br />report by the C91orado State Engineer's office is summarized' in <br />table 2.
