Be],ow that point, the river slope progressively rlat- <br />tens to 28 feet per mile a short distance above the town of Laporte, <br />to 16-feet per mile near Fort COllins, and to 6.6-feet per mile in <br />the lowermost 15 miles of the river, which includes the reach <br />through Greeley, Tributary stream slopes are comparable to those <br />of the main stew in areas of similar topography. <br /> <br />ECONOMIC PROFIIJj: <br /> <br />The Cahce +a Poudre River basin's economic viability is <br />related to that or Larimer and Weld Counties. Fort Collins in <br />Larimer County, and Greeley, in Weld County, are the two largest <br />communities. . ElfCh city contains over 50 percent of the Dl8nufactur- <br />ing and retailing activities in its county. The region has a <br />manufacturing sfE!cialization in food .products i and in printing <br />and publishing, as defined by the Bureau of Census. <br /> <br />Per capita incomes were $2,868 in Larimer County and $2,303 <br />in Weld County }n 1970.
