The report backlog has been classified into five management groups. The grouping
procedure was accomplished as follows:

Step No.1

The entire population of 175 reports was alphabilized by county and municipality
within each county. This action provided all the reports with a county I.D. number. In
addition, each report was given a bin number for its location in Mark's library. The bin
number provides us with a means to locate the report prior to its incorporation into the
Board's floodplain information data base system which presently has 348 designated
floodplain reports.

Step No.2

Mer the initial inventory was completed, a procedure was developed for grouping the
reports into management units. The following questions were asked in developing this
grouping criteria.

. Is the report ready for a CWCB review?

. Ease of a review?

. What is the impact of a continued delay of designation on the community?

. How can "the most" reports be addressed with available resources?

. How can the report engineering be amended for compliance with the CWCB's "Rules
and Regulations for a Floodplain Designation?"

Step No.3

Giving attention to these questions and concerns, the following management groups
were established for addressing the backlog.

Group No. I - The reports in this group will include ill!. the reports which have been
superceded by a newer publication. The staff review will entail a confirmation that the
information has been superceded; a designation (index) number for the inclusion into the
floodplain information data base system; and an explanation and comparison of the
engineering to the newer information; and the removal from the designation list;

.

2
