Components

Benefits and Adverse effects:

A. Soi 1 Erosion and Sedimentation:

Vegetation in construction areas of approximately 8 acres (3.2 ha)
wi 11 be disrupted by the activities involved in install ing the
proposed improvements. Therefore, in the event of rainstorms, a
temporari increase in soil erosion and downstream sedimentation can
be ant i ci pated.

Sites disrupted by construction activities will be revegetated
according to Soil Conservation Service specifications.

B. Water Quality:

Water turbidity, in the event of rainstor'11s, wi 11 temporari ly in-
crease during and after construction activities until vegetation is
reestablished.

C. Watertable Alterations:

Installation of the proposed floodways will provide an outlet for
surface and some subsurface water. Therefore, in localized areas,
the watertable level will be lowered, however, there will be remain-
ing damage to some properties as a result of the high watertable.

The proposed project may also provide an adequate outlet for the
installation of potential future drainage measures which may be
installed by the Town of Hayden to further lower the high water-
table.

D. Change in Flow Regime:

The proposed project will provide a IOO-year frequency level of
flood protection to the Town of Hayden. The planned flood pre-
vention measures will provide an adequate outlet for flood waters,
thereby, significantly reducing the hazard of flooding in the Town
of Hayden. The proposed project win have an insignificant. effect
on downstream Yampa River flooding.

E. Change in Air Quality

Air pollution, in the form of dust and equipment exhaust fumes,
will temporarily increase during construction operations.
