It

was prepared by the Soil Conservation Service, U. S. Department of

Agriculture, in cooperation with the Colorado Water Conservation ~oard,

City of COlorado Springs, and EI Paso County.

Primary purpose of this report is to provide maps of the flood

hazard areas so that local governments can develop floodplain reg ulations.

Because of bulk and size, the flood hazard maps are bound in an appendix

separate to the report. The report includes engineerinr. and hydrologic

data Which will facilitate the use of the maps. The data can also be

used ~n the location and design of roads, bridges, and channel modifi-

cation. The report contains interpretations of the flood hazard analyse, a~d

recommendations to minimize flood damages. The technical data should be

useful in preparing a master drainage plRn for Sand Crce~. Howcv~r, it is

beyond the scope of this study to provide specific propo~als or plans to

rectify the flooding problems.

The study was requested by the City of COlorado Springs and El Paso

I
I
I
I

Countythroughth"ColoraJo\\'aterConservationlloard.
