Grange Hall Creek Channel Improvements <br /> <br />City of North glenn, Public Works <br />City of North glenn, Parks and Recreation <br />Urban Drainage and Flood Control District <br />Muller Engineering Company, Inc. <br />Wenk Associates <br /> <br />A 6,000,foot length of channel in Northglenn was stabilized through the use of <br />sculpted and colored concrete drop structures. Existing 15, to 25,foot vertical <br />banks were filled and laid back while preserving trees and wetlands. A wildlife <br />habitat island was created in one location, and a portion of vertical bank was <br />retained for nesting birds, A water-quality pond and a sedimentation basin were <br />built on the North Tributary. A trail bridge,crossing was designedlbuilt similar in <br />appearance to the drops. A scale model was prepared for presentation to the City <br />CounciL The project was constructed from May 1999 - April 2001. <br /> <br />4. Stormwatcr Public Education in Colorado Springs <br /> <br />City of Colorado Springs, Stormwatcr Management Team <br /> <br />The City developed public education materials as part of its municipal stormwater <br />permit requirements. The intent of the outreach is to bring about an awareness of <br />local streams and the impacts that hwnans have on them and to encourage citizens <br />to take measures that will protect and potentially enhance the quality oflocal <br />waters. The materials include brochures on the City's stormwater management <br />program, grading and erosion control, and household hazardous waste. A literacy <br />booklet was prepared for upper elementary school children where they can learn <br />to read while at the same time learn about stormwater, A city-developed video <br />entitled "Doing Your Part for Stormwater Quality" has been distributed and <br />shown at public presentations. <br /> <br />Colorado Association of Storm water and Floodplain Managers <br /> <br />P.O.
