No. 178 / COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD 823 State Centennial Building 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 December 4, 1981 RES 0 L UTI 0 N WHEREAS, A floodplain information report entitled "Floodplain Information Report, Arkansas River, Timpas Creek, Otero County, Colorado," dated August, 1981, has been prepared by MSM Consul tants, Inc., at the request of Otero County and the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and WHEREAS, said report describes and outl ines the floodplain data and information for the storm,and floodwater runoff channels or basins of the 5tudy area; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Otero County has requested the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate and approve the floodplain areaS as set forth in the aforesaid report; and WHEREAS, 1973, - requires the prevention Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in ot floods and flood damages therefrom; and 'WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local ,jurisdictions may provide zonIng regulations for land uses on or along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or' basin only after designat ion and a'pproval by the Colorado Water Conservation Board; and WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised StiltlJtes 1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservat ion Board to des ignate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to make such designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and does hereby recommend to the Colorado Water Conservat ion Board that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those areas inundated by a 100-year flood (intermediate regional flood) as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in said report;
