No. 178 / <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />823 State Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />December 4, 1981 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, A floodplain information report entitled <br />"Floodplain Information Report, Arkansas River, Timpas Creek, <br />Otero County, Colorado," dated August, 1981, has been prepared by <br />MSM Consul tants, Inc., at the request of Otero County and the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said report describes and outl ines the floodplain <br />data and information for the storm,and floodwater runoff channels <br />or basins of the 5tudy area; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Otero County <br />has requested the Colorado Water Conservation Board to designate <br />and approve the floodplain areaS as set forth in the aforesaid <br />report; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />1973, - requires <br />the prevention <br /> <br />Section 37-60-106(1), Colorado Revised Statutes <br />the Colorado Water Conservation Board to assist in <br />ot floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />'WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-201 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised <br />Statutes 1973, provide that such legislative bodies of local <br />,jurisdictions may provide zonIng regulations for land uses on or <br />along any storm or floodwater runoff channel or' basin only after <br />designat ion and a'pproval by the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised StiltlJtes <br />1973, directs the Colorado Water Conservat ion Board to des ignate <br />and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to <br />make such designations available to legislative bodies of local <br />jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the staff of the Board has reviewed said report and <br />does hereby recommend to the Colorado Water Conservat ion Board <br />that the Board designate and approve as floodplain areas those <br />areas inundated by a 100-year flood (intermediate regional flood) <br />as described by the floodwater surface elevations and profiles in <br />said report; <br />
