i
,
~

FRANKLIN STREET DRAINAGE

~

drains the Whitcomb Addition, three la-inch lines which drain the mobile
home park, and a l2-inch line which intercepts flow on Franklin Street.
Major drainage improvements will be required to reduce flooding
in Service Area 7. Because it is a lOW-lying area, storm flows generated
in Service are~ 8 should be intercepted and diverted away from the
existing points of concentratior. As seen in Plate 23, much of Area 7
is also inundated during 5-year recurrence interval flows in the
Pioneer Ditch.
If recommended improvements in Service Area 8 and Pioneer Ditch
were made. the drainage lateral would be adequate to convey local storm
flows to the Pioneer Ditch. However, the lateral should be cleared of
brush.,'small trees, and other debris that presently limit its cap"city.

1
~

,
I
1
i

1
,
'/
j
,I
,.
~
,
~
"
It
.
~
.:
;
.
~

Service Area No.8
In order to provide adequate drainage and reduce flOOding problems
in service Area 7. major drainage improv~~ents are recommended 'for this
service area. Additional storm sewer capacity would be installed to
collect the excess storm runoff and convey it to a 66-inch outfall on
North Division Avenue between Franklin St. and the point of discharge
in Pioneer Ditch. Trunk lines would be installed on Franklin St and on
Pawnee Avenue as summarized illlTabl e 15 . The recently constructed
30-inch pipe would be extended to the outfall at Franklin and Division
Avenue by means of 36-illch Pipe.1 The new trunk lines would intercept
flows from laterals laid out in a north to south configuration. The
drainage improvements in Service Area 8 should be made only after the
Pioneer Ditch is upgraded as discussed subsequently in this report.

~
,
,
,
,
i
.
,.

1103
I
