construction of Center Avenue.) As the pond fills, flow will
discharge through the BNRR embankment via bath the new culverts and
the restricted opening located at the existing culvert. The
restriction preliminarily designed for the 78-inch diameter culvert
for the recommended improvement plan shall be removed and the pipe
allowed to be fully effective. A berm through the center of the
pond will be necessary to provide cover over the existing 18-inch
trunk sewer and 30-inch waterline, Which run west to east and
parallel one another. The berm will confine runoff to the south
portion of the pond until an elevation of approximately 4985.5 is
reached at which paint runoff will spill over into the north
portion.

A preliminary routing analysis of the proposed pond and outlet
determined the following de~ign data for the lOO-year event.

..

Peak Storage Volume - 164 Acre Ft. (at 2.5 hours)
Maximum water surface Elevation - 4991.5 ft.
Pond Ar~a - 28.5 acres
Invert Elevation of Primary Outlet - 4978.5 ft.
Invert Elevation of 27-inch Orifice - 4979.0 ft.

,.

,.

The center Avenue crosslng has been sized aG five 9-foot wide
by 5-foot high boxes with an assumed head water dC'pth of seven
feet. The preliminary invert and road elevations are 4985.5 and
4994.0, respectively.

'-

,.

"

REFERENCES

1.

Spring Creek Major Drainageway Plan, Fort Collins, Colorado,
prepared by Gingery Associates, 1nc., August 1980.

,.

Report on storm Water Drainage vacilitie>;, Fort Collins,
Colorado, prepared by BlaCk and Veatch Consulting Engineers.
June, 1971.

,.

Grigg, 8othan, Rice, Shoemaker and Tucker Urban Orainage and
Flood Control Projects: Economic, Legal. and Vinancial
Aspects, July 1975.

Preliminary Bridge Hydraulics Report for Prospect street at
Spring Creek, prepared by Centennial Engineering, March 1986.

HEC-2 Data, Spring Creek at Riverside Avenue, prepared by the
City of Fort Collins, May, 1985.

Cedat" Village outfall SWMM Data, prep3red by the city of Fort
Collins, November, 1985.

UDSWMM2-PC Users Manual prepared by Boyle Engineering
Corporation, March, 1985.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, HEC-2 Water Surf3ce Profiles,
Users Manual, September, 1982.

9.
