Column 4: Annual O&M expenses include the Bureau of Reclamation and
Western Area Power Administration's expenses associated with operating
and maintaining the Project's power facilities including salaries of

maintenance of the power facilities. The costs of maintenance,
engineering, and administration and general expenses are also
included.

Column 7: Figures prior to FY 1963 are on a replacement basis.
Beginning with FY 1963, "provision for depreciation" was computed on a
basis of straight-line depreciation. In FY 1966, a compound-interest
method of computing depreciation was adopted. After FY 1972, a
repl acement accounti ng method was used. Future repl acement costs are
based on the current cost of these replacements as of January 1985.

Column 8: The amount of interest paid each year on interest-bearing
unpaid capital, replacement investment, and capitalized deficits.

Column 9: Total deductions are the sum of columns 4 through 8.

Column 10: These entries come from the occasional need to make
adjustments to pri or years' income and/o r expenses. Norma lly, the
only adjustments included are those which significantly distort the
current-year data.

Column 11-13: Depreciation accounting data are shown in these columns
for the years FY 1963 through FY 1972. In FY 1973 and thereafter, the

actual cost of replacements. After FY 1985, entries are the estimated
future costs of replacements at January 1985 price levels. The basis
for replacements was reduced in the historical years to reflect the
sale of the project transmission facilities.
