Box 1415
Broomfield, Colorado 80038-1415

Community: City of Ilroomfield, Colorado
Community No.: 085073
Panels Affected: 0220 D and 0220
Effective Date of
This Revision: MA.Y 1 6 1996

102-I-A-C

Dear Mayor Berens:

This is in response to a request for a revision to the effective Flood Insurance Study (FlS) and National
Flood Insurance Program (NFlP) map for your community. Specifically, this responds to a facsimile
dated April 2, 1996, from Mr. Gary Behlen, P.E., City Engineer, City of Broomfield, regarding the
effective FlS report, Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM), and Flood Boundary and Floodway Map (FBFM)
for the City of Broomfield, Colorado. Mr. Behlen provided additional information to support a
December 4, 1995, request for a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) from Mr. Tim Doherty, P.E., Civil
Engineer, City of Broomfield. Mr. Doherty requested that the Federal Emergency Management Agency
(FEMA) revise the effective FIRM and FBFM to show the effects of levee and channel improvements
along West Lake Channel from West 128th Avenue to approximately 1,600 feet upstream of the
intersection of King Circle and Westlake DriVe. This request follows up on a Conditional Letter of Map
Revision, which was issued on January 23, 1995.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with Mr. Behlen's April 2
facsimile, with Mr. Doherty's December 4 letter, and with a letter dated February 6, 1996, from
Mr. Brian S. Kolstad, P.E., McLaughlin Water Engineers, Ltd, Because this LOMR shows the effects
of a publicly sponsored flood-control project that reduces flooding to existing development, fees were not
assessed for the review.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM and
FBFM, and have revised the FIRM and FBFM to modify the elevations and floodplain and floodway
boundary delineations of a flood having a I-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year
(base flood) along West Lake Channel from West 128th Avenue to approximately 1,600 feet upstream
of the intersection of King Circle and Westlake Drive.
