I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

I. Introduction

The Town of Crook has experienced excessive infiltration to the sewer system and generally
poor underground drainage due to a high water table. The Town wishes to have an underground
drainage system designed and constructed. Kiowa Engineering Corporation is very interested in
providing design services to the Town. The proposed system will consist of plastic underdrain
pipe located in the Town streets, a pump station and discharge piping to an existing
drainageway.
II. Scope of Services

The proposed scope of services is outlined in the Scope of Services prepared by the Colorado
Water Conservation Board and restated below:

I. Provide engineering services including the preparation of plans and
specifications, bid documents and bid recommendations to the Town Council, The
underdrain system will be designed in accordance with the U.S. Bureau of
Reclamation's design procedures for underground drainage. The design will also
include a "package" pump station with pre-engineered wet well and dry well.

2. Provide centerline profile survey for the proposed underdrain route. Also
provide permanent monumentation for the alignment that can be recovered during
construction. Survey elevations will be tied to the vertical datum of the ditch plans.

3. Provide Right-of-Way information to the Town. The RO,W. map will be based
on County records and shown on a USGS base map, Necessary easements and property
lines will tied to the centerline stationing of the underdrain system.

4. Design a pump station with primary and secondary pumps, wet well, and
necessary instrumentation to fit the flow rate and lift needed to remove underground
water. The "dry well" of the pump station will probably consist of a "pre-engineered
package pump station. The wet well will be sized after determination of the estimated
flow rate and recommended cycling time for the pumps, Annual pumping costs for
electricity and maintenance will be estimated. Service life of the pUlnps will also be
estimated.

5. Select an alignment and design the outfall line from the proposed pump station to
the natural drainage path.

6. Prepare contract documents in accordance with item 6 of the Scope of Service
document provided by the Colorado Water Conservation Board.

7. Provide four sets of documents and plans to the Town.

8. Prepare construction cost estimate.

9, Assist the Town during the advertisement and bidding of the project according to
item 9 of the Scope of Service document. Kiowa will include the design prepared by
Muller Engineering as a separate bid schedule.
