. Guide to Flood Insurance Rate Maps --
Describes the key elements and use of
FIRMs

Also available are the following "Conditions and
Criteria" documents that describe the appeal,
map revision, and map amendment processes
and the required supporting data in more
technical terms and in greater detail than does
this guide.

. "Conditions and Criteria for Map
Revisions"

. "Conditions and Criteria for Floodway
Revisions"

. "Conditions and Criteria for Letters of
Map Amendment (LOMAs)"
. "Conditions and Criteria for Issuing
Letters of Map Revision (LOMRs) Based
on Fill"

Requests for any of the documents listed above
should be directed to the appropriate FEMA
Regional Office.

Backup Data for NFIP Maps

While an NFIP map is being processed for
publication, copies of the data on which the
map is based are available through the
appropriate FEMA Regional Office. Such data
could include copies of calculations performed
as part of hydrologic and/or hydraulic analyses
(including printouts from computer models) and
topographic maps and other ground elevation
data. One free copy of the supporting
documentation will be made available to the
CEO or his designee upon request. All other
requestors must pay a fee for search and
duplication costs.

After an NFIP map has been published and
distributed, the backup data for that map are
microfilmed under the FEMA Engineering
Studies Data Package (ESOP) Project. Copies of
those data can be provided on microfiche.
Requests for ESDP data should also be directed
to the appropriate FEMA Regional Office. A fee
will be charged by FEMA for providing backup
data on microfiche.

C-2
