<br />3,1. 2 <br /> <br />Hazard Classification <br /> <br />,) <br />H' <br />" <br />,f <br />y/~~ <br /> <br />About 10 years ago, the Dam Safety Branch of the Division of <br />Water Resources developed a hazard rating procedure based upon a <br />weighted analysis using dam height, reservoir capacity, estimated <br />evacuation and potential downstream damage, <br /> <br />The procedure was used for several years and was the basis <br />of the State's initial hazard ratings for the national inventory <br />of dams. Dams in the high hazard potential category <br />will be those located where failure may cause serious damage to <br />homes, extnesive agricultural, industrial and commercial <br />facilities, important public utilities, main highways, or <br />railroads. The following table sets forth the extent of <br />development with respect to loss of life and economic loss for <br />each category adopted in Colorado, The State criteria with <br />respect to loss of life is more stringent than the present <br />federal criteria, <br /> <br />,," <br />
