Box 419 <br />Alamosa, Colorado 81101 <br /> <br />RE: RIO GRANDE LEVEE SYSTEM AT ALAMOSA <br />EMERGENCY GOLF COURSE LEVEE REPAIR <br />MEC Project No. 8601 <br /> <br />Dear Terry: <br /> <br />Enclosed is a set of constructi on drawi ngs for the emergency golf <br />course levee repair for your review. The original mylar title sheet <br />has been mailed under separate cover for your signature. A quantity <br />summary is supplied for inclusion in your proposal form, and an <br />opinion of probable construction cost is attached. <br /> <br />Copies of the drawings have also been forwarded to the Southern <br />Colorado Project Office of the Corps of Engineers for their <br />determination of which 4D4 permit type the repair will require. <br /> <br />The emergency repair work at this location has been designed to <br />rehabilitate the levee armoring. No improvement to the overall <br />structural stability or seepage characteristics of the existing levee <br />is anticipated to be gained with this emergency work. The riprap has <br />been sized for a flow velocity of 7.8 feet per second and other <br />hydrauli c parameters usi ng COE criteri a and methods. The typi cal <br />section for the levee is as recommended by the Geotechnical Engineer. <br />The rock thickness and configuration is typical of CDE designs. <br />Critical parameters on rock size, bedding requirements, materials <br />gradati on and pl acement are outl i ned on the drawi ngs.
