<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />GC-5B <br /> <br />GC,6 <br /> <br />GC-7 <br /> <br />7,01 <br /> <br />7.02 <br /> <br />ENGINEER <br /> <br /> <br />The ENGINEER shall participate in the preparation and approval of progress and final payment <br />estimates and shall participate in inspections while the WORK is in progress and especially <br />prior to final acceptance by the OWNER. <br /> <br />AUTHORlTY OF ENGINEER, The ENGINEER shall act as the OWNER'S representative <br />during the construction period. He shall decide questions which may arise as to quality and <br />acceptability of materials furnished and WORK performed, He shall interpret the intent of <br />the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS in a fair and unbiased manner. The ENGINEER will make <br />visits to the site and determine if the WORK is proceeding in accordance with the CONTRACT <br />DOCUMENTS, <br /> <br />The CONTRACTOR shall be held strictly to the intent of the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS in <br />regard to the quality of materials, workmanship and execution of the WORK. Inspections may <br />be made at the factory or Fabrication plant of the source of material supply. <br /> <br />The ENGINEER shall not be responsible for the construction means, controls, techniques, <br />sequences, procedures, or construction safety. <br /> <br />The ENGINEER shall promptly make decisions relative to interpretation of the CONTRACT <br />DOCU,\1ENTS when requests are directed to the ENGINEER in writing. <br /> <br />APPROVAL BY ENGINEER, Approval by the ENGINEER of any DRAWING, <br />SPECIFICATION, material, equipment, product or process shall only be construed to mean <br />approval in accordancc with the overall design concept and the intent of the PLANS and <br />SPECIFIC\ TIONS and shall not relieve the CONTRACTOR of his responsibility to insure that <br />all dimensions, grades, and the quality and compatibility of any material, equipment, process <br />or product furnished are suitable for the purpose intended and are in compliance with all <br />requirements of the CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION MANAGER. The Construction Manager is the person or administrative <br />organization identified in the SPECIAL CONTRACT CONDITIONS as the entity retained by <br />the OWNER, to supplement the ENGINEER's design and construction administration <br />capabilities. If a Construction Manager is employed, the degree of his participation in the <br />administration of the CONTRACT will be specified in the SPECIAL CONTRACT <br />CONDITI01\S, <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR', <br /> <br />GENERAL. The work may, from time to time, be under the observation of inspectors with <br />different duties and responsibilities, Inspectors employed by the OWNER will inspect to see <br />that work is performed in conformance with the construction documents. If funds of the State <br />of Colorado or the United States of America have been provided to pay for the WORK, <br />inspectors of these governmental units may maintain observation over the CONTRACTOR's <br />operations, Such observation can also extend to the CONTRACTOR's records and files, <br /> <br />Should inspectors of the OWNER or the State of Colorado or United States of America fmd <br />defects, the information about these defects will be co=unicated to the CONTRACTOR <br />tlu'ough the OWNER's representative assigned to the WORK. The CONTRACTOR shall not <br />act on infornlation or instructions offered by inspectors other than the inspectors assigned to <br />the work by the OWNER. <br /> <br />CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION BY THE OWNER. Inspectors, either employees of the <br />OWNER or contract inspectors, will be assigned to the work, These inspectors will perform <br /> <br />I1I-6 <br />(1723 - 10/93) <br /> <br />
