A copy of the staff's written evaluation and rating of your application is enclosed, along with a copy of the agenda for the Advisory Committee's hearings on the applications. The Advisory CORlDittee will meet in Denver at the Holiday Inn - Denver Downtown on March 28 and 29 to hear presentations on and discuss applications with representatives of the applying municipalities and counties. Please note on the enclosed agenda the time at which your jurisdiction's application will be reviewed. If you are unable, or choose not to make the schedul ed presentation, a member of our "1 ead" Division staff that reviewed your proposal will present and respond to questions on it. Please advise the "lead" Division if you will not make a presentation. Applications which received a "low" or "medium minus" Department "overall staff rating" are not included in the presentation agenda. If your application received a "low" or "medium minus" rating and you still wish to make a presentation, please contact the Department CDBG Program Coordinator or Staff Assistant at 866-2771 by Friday, March 22 to arrange for an available time period. We have received 63 applications requesting a total of $24.7 mill ion, a sincere expression of many, many legitimate needs throughout Colorado. We only have about $8.2 million available. Every applicant has the opportunity to make his or her case. However, there is only enough money to fund about one application out of every three. Thus, the overwhelming majority of applicants will go away empty handed, not because their proposals were unworthy, but because there simply isn't enough money. Because this is such a competitive process and because of the extraordinary workload facing the Advisory Committee and our staff, let me make a couple of suggestions.
