INTRODUCTION The Bosley Wash Watershed is located in Mesa County upgradient of the Colorado River, as illustrated in Figure 1. Many homeowners within the Watershed experienced flood damage in intense rain events during July and August of 1999, As a result of concerns and complaints from local residents, a project was initiated to delineate and update the floodplain and to provide a well,informed basin wide flood control plan that will result in reduced flood damages throughout the watershed, This report presents the first phase of this effort: the delineation of the floodplain and the development of an understanding of the source and extent of flooding, The nature of the Bosley Wash Watershed, and the conveyance characteristics within it, lead to infrequent, but occasionally severe, flood events, South of Interstate 70 (1-70), the basin has little or no "natural" features. These characteristics combined with recent physical changes within the watershed have led many residents to believe that flooding problems are becoming more frequent and severe, For example, recent work performed as part of the Salinity Project included the piping of the Stub Ditch and the Price Ditch, preventing locally generated runoff from entering the irrigation ditches, Mesa County (County) retained HDR to address the needs identified by the citizens of Bosley Wash, The Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) and the Grand Junction Drainage District (GJDD) were also sponsors of this study effort, This report has been prepared by HDR as the primary deliverable for Phase 1 of the Bosley Wash Drainage Master Plan as defined in HDR's Scope of Work Submittal dated December 12, 2000, This product also provides the additional work products outlined in Mesa County RFP DEF-71-00 Attachment A and the subsequent Addendum 1 submitted September 29,2000.
