<br />, , <br /> <br />, <br />, . <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY <br />CORPS OF ENGINEERS, OMAHA DISTRICT <br />1015 SOUTH 1 liTH STIUET <br />OMAt-4A., NEBRASKA eS'02-11518 <br />August 4. 2003 <br /> <br />'~~ <br />-~ <br /> <br />REPLV TO <br />ATT~N"ION OF: <br /> <br />District Engineer <br /> <br />Mr. Larry Lang <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />Uepartment of Natural Kesources <br />131) Shennan Street, Room 721 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Lang: <br /> <br />This is in reply to your July 15,2003 letter regarding the Cherry Creek Probable <br />Maximum Precipitation (PMP) Technical Review (copy enclosed). <br /> <br />I appreciate the Omaha District having the opportunity to observe the Cherry <br />Creek PMP Technical Review process~ The combined etTorts of the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board (CWCB) and Cherry Creek PMP Advisory Committee (Working <br />Group) have clarified the issues related to the Cherry Creek PM? <br /> <br />- <br />The Corps' response to the proposed requests/options provided in your letter arc, <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Request No.1 - Can the Corps use the AWA PMP values and the Corps' 1995 <br />PMF model, the Corps will compute the PMF storage pool volume and compare the <br />value to the existing reservoir space and Corps' ] 995 storage volume that presently has a <br />requirement for an additional I 00,000 Acre-Foot of storage space to the existing' reservoir <br />pool? <br /> <br />Response No. I - Yes, the Corps will perform the task,s outlined in Request I. <br /> <br />Request No.2 - Should the COIpS not have the resources to perfonn Request No, <br />1. can the Corps provide its ] 995 PMF Model to the CWeB so a non-federal PMF <br />volume detennination can be, computed using the COlps procedures and A W A's PMP, <br />input paramel~rs? <br /> <br />Response No.2 - Given the Corps is committed to accomplishing your first <br />request, the second request is no longer applicable. <br /> <br />Request No.3 - Is there an opportunity to revise the Corps' dam safety <br />operational requirements regarding storage and spill schedules for the Cherry Creek Dam <br />and Reservoir? <br /> <br />) <br />
