11-6

The ponds located in the isolated sub-basins often possess sufficient
surcharge storage capacity to retain the complete .100 year storm runoff from
the sub-basin. The surcharged storm water percolates into the Clear Creek
alluvial aquifer and thusly recharges the ground water basin.
D. Present Land Use
The majority of the land in the upper portion of the Hidden Lake Planning
Basin is presently developed to residential use. There is a large block of
land on the north side of the basin, west of Sheridan (within Westminster)
that is currently undeveloped, but plans have been submitted to Westminster
for PUD type projects in this area. The existing development is shown on
Figure 11-3.
The periphery of Hidden Lake is largely undeveloped at the present time.
There are approximately twenty fairly expensive, large homes located along
the south shore line. Several of the property owners along the south shore
experienced minor flood damage due to the maximum level of Hidden Lake during
the May 1973 storm. The damage was generally limited to boat docks washed
away and some lawn inundation. The house furthest to the east experienced
unfinished-basement flooding. The total estimated damage was placed at about
$1,000.
Be10w Hidden Lake, the east side of Lowell Blvd. is largely developed,
while the west side of Lowell Blvd. has significant areas that are currently
undeveloped.
The present land uses within the Hidden Lake Planning Basin are presented
on the following page:
