Agencies from allover the <br />state as well as from other states are represented in the <br />catalogue. Many publications are available bilingually. (See <br />Exhibit 15). <br /> <br />The Department of Water Resources provides <br /> <br /> <br />bulletins, newsletters, public service announcements, guidebooks <br /> <br /> <br />and general information materials to other agencies. There is a <br /> <br /> <br />great deal of sharing of information and materials among various <br /> <br /> <br />agencies throughout the state. <br /> <br />C. Education Programs <br /> <br /> <br />California's Education Code requires the adoption <br /> <br /> <br />of curriculum including the study of resources conservation and <br /> <br /> <br />environmental protection by each school district. The Department <br /> <br /> <br />of Water Resources developed an educational program in <br /> <br /> <br />conjunction with the State Department of Education. The program <br /> <br /> <br />was initially funded by The State Environmental Protected Program <br /> <br /> <br />fund with environmental license plate fees.11 The cost runs <br /> <br /> <br />about 40 cents per student for materials. 12 The Department of <br /> <br /> <br />Water Resources publishes a guidebook for school districts and <br /> <br /> <br />offers teachers training workshops as well as films, displays and <br /> <br /> <br />workbooks. The programs, developed by individual school <br /> <br /> <br />districts, continue from elementary through high school with an <br /> <br /> <br />emphasis on elementary age instruction. <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />-8- <br />
