<br /> <br />San ta Cruz <br /> <br /> <br />! <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 81-51 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA CRUZ PROHIB- <br />ITING CERTAIN USES OF WATER FROM THE CITY <br />WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM FOR WATER CONSERVATON <br />PURPOSES AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR <br />VIOLATIONS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />and <br /> <br />wa ter is a fi ni te resource tha t should not be wasted; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />of water <br />hibited; <br /> <br />it is imperative to the public well-being that those uses <br />which consti tute waste or abuse of the resource be pro- <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary to conserve the water supply of the Ci ty <br />of Santa Cruz for the greatest public benefit and to discourage <br />wasteful and unproductive uses of water; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City of Santa Cruz, <br />California, as follows: <br /> <br />Section 1. Defini tions. Unless the con text requires otherwise, <br />the following definitions shall be used in the interpretation and <br />construction of this Ordinance. Words used in the present tense <br />incl ude the future; the singular number incl udes the pI ural and <br />the plural the singular. <br /> <br />A. "Director" is the Director of the Water Department of <br />the City of Santa Cruz. <br /> <br />B. "Person" means any individual, firm, partnership, asso- <br />ciation, corporation, or political entity. <br /> <br />C. "Water" means any water obtained from the Water Depart- <br />ment of the City of Santa Cruz. <br /> <br />Section 2. Application of Regulations. The provisions of this <br />Ordinance shall apply to all persons using water, both in and <br />outside the City and within City Water Service Areas, and regard- <br />less of whether any person using water shall have a contract for <br />wa ter serv ice wi th the Ci ty. Notwi thstanding other code provi- <br />sions inconsisten t wi th this Ord inance, the provisions of this <br />Ordinance shall supersede and prevail until termina tion of thi s <br />Ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 3. Regulations. It is unlawful for any person to use <br />water for any of the following: <br /> <br />A.
