<br />The energy conservation standards for new buildings, in Title 24 of the <br />Administrative Code, prohibit the installation of fixtures that do not comply <br />with the flow rate standards. Section 2-5307 (b) states: <br /> <br />(b) Showerheads and Faucets. Showerheads, lavatory faucets, <br />and sink faucets shall not be installed unless the manu- <br />facturer has lawfully certified to the California Energy <br />Commission compliance with the appliance efficiency <br />standards for that model of showerhead, lavatory faucet, <br />or sink faucet. <br /> <br />Thp Ca1ifomia Enprgy Commission publisres a directory of certified showerheC1ds <br />and frucets (itpm code PIIOO-OO-CPO). Government Code Section 7800 states: <br /> <br />Lavatories in restrooms of public facilities constructed after <br />January 1, 19115, shall be equipped with all of the following: <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Outlet devices which limit the flow of hot water to <br />a maximum of 0.5 gallons pcr minute (0.032 litres per <br />second) or, be equipped with self-closing faucets that <br />limit delivery to a maximuM of 0.25 gallons (0.94 litres) <br />of hot water for recirculating systems and to a maximum <br />of 0.5 gallons (1.9 litres) for nonrecirculating systems. <br />Devices which limit the outlet temperature to a maximum <br />of 430 C (1100 F). <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Separate lavatories for physically handicapped persons shall <br />not be equipped with self-closing faucets unless the faucets <br />remain open for at least 10 seconds. <br /> <br />General Information <br /> <br />General information on water conservation may be obtained from: <br /> <br />Department of Water Resources <br />Office of Water Conservation <br />P.
