<br />. <br /> <br />e, <br /> <br />Second Regular Session <br /> <br />STATE OF COLORADO <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />Sixty-first General Assembly <br /> <br />BY <br /> <br />A BILL FOR AN ACT <br /> <br />STEWARDSHIP OF COLORADO STREAM CORRIDORS FUND <br /> <br />Bill Summary <br /> <br />(Note: This summary applies to this bill as introduced and does not necessarily <br />reflect any amendments that may be subsequently adopted,) <br /> <br />Stewardship of Colorado Stream Corridors Steering Committee. Declares that the <br />rehabilitation and preservation of stream corridors and floodplains is a matter of <br />statewide concern, <br /> <br />Creates the Stewardship of Colorado Stream Corridors Fund for the purpose of funding <br />projects for more effectively 1) addressing flooding and drainage problems in Colorado <br />communities, 2) supporting important community values associated with stream <br />corridors, and 3) funding and implementing means to rehabilitate, improve and preserve <br />the natural and beneficial functions of Colorado's stream corridors and floodplains, <br /> <br />Authorizes the Colorado water conservation board and its director to annually prepare a <br />prioritized list of projects to be funded by the Stewardship of Colorado Stream Corridors <br />Fund for approval by the general assembly by joint resolution, <br /> <br />Requires the Colorado water conservation board and its director to prioritize funding <br />from the Stewardship of Colorado Stream Corridors Fund to address the following issues <br />associated with stream corridors and floodplains: <br /> <br />+ Improved flood mitigation measures, <br />+ Streambank and channel erosion, <br />+ Loss of channel conveyance capability, <br />+ Loss of wildlife habitat areas, <br />+ Prevention and control of floods, <br />+ Wetland loss and degradation, and <br />+ Floodwater detention, <br />
