The County and individual property owners
have until June 24, 1977 to appeal or accept these floodplain
elevations. Once such floodplain elevations are finally deline-
ated by the FIA, the County must regulate and prohibit the build-
ing of most structures below such elevations, or risk suspension
from the Federal Insurance Administration Program. The only way
the County has in regulating the building of structures in flood-
plains is to floodplain zone the property, and since we can not
zone a flOOdplain without such being certified by the Water Con-
servation Board, I would like the Board's position on the technical
accuracy of the elevations and whether or not the Board would adopt
and designate such floodplain elevations. It is important that we
get your Board's opinion at this time, because if you have serious
reservations on the technical accuracy, those reservations need to
be communicated to the FIA during the appeal process.

I have included with this letter all of the information which the
FIA has communicated to us. If you need any further information
on the hydrOlogy etc., you should contact Gingery & Associates
who actually prepared the study for the FlA.

If we can be of any further assistance to you, please advise.

Sincerely,

fft 1. r~~

Planning Direct

RNF:ms
Encl/as
