At S. Pioneer Ave. and W. 4th Street,

the opening of the ditch above ground, or cement culvert, is about 4'6" wide and 2'10"

high. At this location, the top width is 13' with a bottom width of 10'6" and a height of

3'10". At S Hendren Street and W. 4th, at the entrance of the water from a 4' by 3'

cement culvert, a wooden barrier with a top width of 6'8" restricts flow. Just past this

barrier, the top width is 10' with a bottom width of5'6" and a height of2'7". The ditch

goes underground again until right before the storm drain enters at Colorado Avenue and

Russell Avenue. It reopens with a metal culvert with top width of 15', bottom width of

11', and a height 0[3'8".

n.2.0.3 Dimensions at drain intersection. Parallel to Russell Avenue is a sandstone

opening of the ditch flow with a width of5'6" and a height of2'3". Right afterthe drain

enters the ditch, measurements of an 18' top width, 6'6" bottom width, and 4'8" height

were taken. At this location, the banks were reinforced with cement.

n.2.0.4 Continuing path and intersection at 1-25. The ditch runs along Colorado

Avenue until it reaches 1-25. At the culvert under 1-25, a large bottleneck has been

created because of the large amount of water flowing in the ditch that cannot flow through

the small 6 feet diameter culvert. This culvert has a reported limited carrying capacity of

200 cubic feet per second [13]. The culvert cannot be enlarged, moved, or changed to

carry more water through it.

7
