A representative of this office presented the study at
a public meeting to obtain comments from local government officials and
private citi2ens. Subsequent to the meeting, proposed base flood elevations
were published in the local newspaper on May 20, 1981 and May 27, 1981.
This second publication date initiated a 90-day appeals period.

During the appeals period, comments are received from interested parties
concerning discrepancies in base flood elevations. To refute the proposed
elevations, scientific or technical information must be presented that
shows the elevations to be incorrect. Drafting errors found on proposed
study maps may be corrected administratively and are not considered as
formal appeals. Please advise this office of any technical deficiencies
which may exist not later than August 27, 1981.

This 90-day appeals period provides an excellent opportunity for your
Board to initiate the floodplain study designation procedure required by
Colorado State Statute. Designation of the Flood Insurance Study at the
earliest possible date will ensure that the community may legally enforce
floodplain management regulations for the designated Special Flood
Hazard Areas and participate in the Regular Phase of the National Flood
Insurance Program.

Thank you for your interest in this Flood Insurance Study.
provide any information regarding the technical aspects of
please contact me at (303) 234-6582.

If we can
this study,

Sincerely

ohn Liou, Ph.D., P.E.
Hydrologist
Division of Insurance & Mitigation
