Dear Mr. Bridges:

We are pleased that M:>nte Vista, Colorado recently adopted a Floodplain
Managanent Ordinance in order to qualify for participation in the
Regular Phase of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The
enforcanent of the ordinance Will assure that individuals in your can-
munity can continue to purchase National Flood Insurance at affordable
rates. The Floodplain Managanent Ordinance assigns responsibility for
administering the ordinance to the City Manager. In order to assist you
With these responsibilities, we are enclosing a copy of "Floodplain
Managanent Administrative Procedures" to assist you in developing fonns
and procedures for administering the ordinance. Also, enclosed are
several publications explaining acceptable floodplain managanent
techniques and various aspects of the NFIP.

It is important that you have received final copies of the Flood Insur-
ance Study and maps since these materials establish the technical basis
of your floodplain managanent program. Please advise us if you have not
yet received these materials.
