However, many private <br />insurance companies also participate. Generally <br />speaking, policy owners with flood insurance <br />are likely to participate and implement post- <br />flood mitigation projects because they are in a <br />better position financially to do so. <br /> <br />In 1994, the National Flood Insurance <br />Refonn Act added the provision of "mitigation <br />insurance" whereby additional funds would be <br />provided with the claim payment to finance the <br />cost of complying wi~h state or local code <br />requirements.
