CONCLUSION

The abbreviated Interagency Hazard Mitigation Team meeting and process
gave state and federal agencies an opportunity to look at seven consecutive
years of similar flooding disasters and to review their implementation
successes. The process highlighted which recommendations had remained
consistent over time, recommendations for which no action had been taken,
and recommendations no longer relevant. The team found that some
recommended actions were more important than others, and decided which
actions to move forward. The review process encouraged team members to
identify and develop action items that could, in fact, be implemented; lead
agencies that would take responsibility for moving the action item forward;
specific, time lines and realistic'implementation strategies.

The findings of this report are to be included in the State's Multi-Hazard
Mitigation Plan that will be revised by March 2000.

18
