<br />the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan encouraging cities and counties to adopt and <br />enforce the State Building Code. Continuing explanation of code requirements <br />as they relate to receiving Federal disaster assistance will be necessary. <br /> <br />Funding: There is no special funding available for this effort other than the <br />budget of the DCS for building codes which focuses primarily on providing code <br />training. <br /> <br />Time line for implementation: The first task of the DCS will be to determine <br />the level of support for legislation to incorporate the International Codes into <br />state law. This will begin in October 1999. Once adoption and enforcement of <br />the State Building Code becomes known as a key component of the State's <br />Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan, more efforts can be made to promote the adoption <br />of the State Building Code. The DCS will contact the League of Cities and <br />Association of Counties to determine what can be done. <br /> <br />8 <br />
