<br />The address of the PE&LS Board is : <br /> <br />Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors <br />Room 600B <br />1525 Sherman Street <br />Denver, CO 80203-1767 <br /> <br />1.5 Datum <br /> <br />All elevation datum are referenced to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD) of 1929, <br />This is the same datum used on the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM's) as published with <br />the Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports, <br /> <br />1.6 Method of Compilation <br /> <br />All elevation data has been compiled into a database using the dBase III Plus computer <br />program distributed by Ashton-Tate, Over 7,100 individual records comprise the database, <br />Each record contains 26 fields (see Appendix), The printout of the database is organized by <br />elevation within each county, Where applicable, communities are listed under each county <br />with elevation data specific to that community, <br /> <br />1. 7 Type of Information <br /> <br />The elevation data furnished by the NGS has locational information expressed in latitude and <br />longitude (in degrees, minutes and seconds), The elevation data, provided in meters, was <br />converted to feet by multiplying by 3,2808, Each location has a horizontal margin of error <br />of 30 seconds, More detailed location and descriptions may be obtained from the NGS, <br /> <br />Elevation data furnished by individual communities has locational information expressed in <br />the description which was provided to the CWCB by each individual community, <br />Descriptions vary according to the approach taken by each community official who provided <br />the information, The CWCB has attempted to standardize this locational information for <br />communities for the purposes of simplifying the database, <br /> <br />1.8 Suggested Use <br /> <br />This Catalog of Benchmarks is a reference tool for persons wishing to locate vertical elevation <br />data for a given community or location, This printout is a list of all reference marks in the <br />state by county in order from the lowest to the highest reference mark, If you know the <br />county and the approximate range in elevation of the site of interest, try to find a suitable <br />benchmark by scanning the printout listed in section 2,0, <br /> <br />2 <br />
