<br />- 18 - <br /> <br />Land Treatment Measures for Flood Prevention <br /> <br />~; <br /> <br />Fire control facilities and equipment to be acquired as part <br />of this project will be stationed at Franktown, Larkspur, Parker, and <br />Castle Rock, Colorado. The equipment will be operated by the community <br />fire departments at these localities under existing agreements between <br />the communities, Douglas County, and the Colorado State Forest <br />Service. <br /> <br />k <br />~ <br />~, <br /> <br />The State Forest Service will be responsible for the continued <br />readiness and efficiency of the fire prevention and control <br />facilities and to see that the funds for continuing maintenance <br />amounting to J200 per year are provided by the Communities and <br />Douglas County and EI Paso County. <br /> <br />Structural Measures for Flood Prevention <br /> <br />~ <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The structures will be operated and maintained by the sponsors. <br />The Board of County Commissioners, EI Paso County, will maintain the <br />following structures: FP-EI, FP-E2D, FP-E2, FP-E3, FP-E4, FP-ES, <br />and FP-E6, The remaining structures will be maintained by the <br />Board of County Commissioners, Douglas County, All structures will <br />be inspected at least once each year prior to the thunderstorm season <br />and after each heavy rain or streamflow to determine operation and <br />maintenance needs, The inspection will be made by representatives of <br />the sponsors and the Soil Conservation Service. Items to be inspected <br />wil1 include: the principal spillway. riser ports. and trash rack; <br />the emergency spillway; the earth-fill; the vegetative cover of the <br />earth-fill and emergency spillway; and fences and gates installed <br />as a part of the structure. Written reports will be made itemizing <br />the maintenance needs, and a file will be kept by the sponsors showing <br />completion of recommended maintenance with copies provided to the <br />Colorado State Engineer. Authorized representatives will have free <br />access to inspect the structures. <br /> <br />i: <br />~ <br /> <br />i <br />r <br />i <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br /> <br />The annual operation and maintenance cost for structural measures <br />is estimated at $4,479. <br /> <br />The sponsoring organizations understand their obligations for <br />operation and maintenance and will execute specific operation and <br />maintenance agreements with the Soil Conservation Service prior to <br />the issuance of invitations to bid. <br /> <br />f <br /> <br />COST SHARING <br /> <br />The total estimated project cost is $1,180,338, of which the <br />Public Law 566 share is $812.650 or 68,8 per cent and the local or <br />"other" share is J367,688 or 31,2 per cent. <br />
