This unit <br />also includes areas of eroded shale soils. <br /> <br />Heavy stream runoff has undercut soil unit S2l3 causing slides and a large <br />amount of sediment. These areas should not be overloaded with debris or <br />used to dump extra soil material. Much of the outwash material from summer <br />'storms is derived from this unit. Deep' excavations or the bUilding,of <br />structures should be avoided near any wet'hummocky areas unless thoroughly <br />investigated.
