-2-

"The Possible Dream" Continued
Bleu Stroud

rather than berate and complain .

Jerry Covault of the Forest Service could not be in attendance and
asked Mrs. Stroud to convey his thoughts as follows:

He feels that a useful way to develop an area of Filing #8, would
be to build an ultra campground for Summer recreation, which would
fulfill a much needed activity in the Marble area and, would present
no problems to our Elk population, as the herd moves to higJ;1 ground
during the Summer.

"Thoughts on the Environment"

Verne Stanford,
President, CVEPA

Mr. Stanford questioned the need for the Marble Ski Area development.
He tempered his statement by saying, that it was not the intention
of CVEPA to stop the development, but that they are concerned over
whether it will be well done. He suggested that Marble Ski Area
withdraw their permit request with the Forest Service for the additional
624 acres and cut the density of the development. He conceded that
the new owners are maki ng an effort and they would be given the
benefit of a doubt. He also stated, that the over-planning, in his
opinion, is questionable.

"Building Can Be Beautiful"

Mr. Oglesby opened by saying, that he was sure everyone concerned
with or about the Marble Ski Area development wanted it to be
bei.\Utifully done. He then said, he did not find density in itself
un':'n.sirable, but that sprawl is "ugly". He thinks the Marble area
if L:autiful and reasonably accessible, but that movement of people
is t:le real problem. He believes in planning and design as a system -
"it is the combination of ,Nature with development which is the greatest
joy of all." Mr. Oglesby is a proponent of new technology in building
and described the benefits of pre-cast concrete for use in development
and even sod roofs, as an answer to ecological problems.

.~ J

Bud Oglesby, Architect & Planner-
The Oglesby Group
Dallas, Texas

r-~ ,- --._--- ,":-- "
I I
